Man, this is such a boring journal. Hmm. I guess I'll put the lyrics to "Breathe", the song that accompanies my latest deviation in here. It's my "inspiration, get pumped" song, my "cheer-up" song, my "get motivated" song, my "never tired of" song...
In life, we struggle as individuals,
A fine line between a cliché saying and something original,
As if in death we left something residual,
Behind to mark our time up in this pitiful,
Existence and Im a man of many issues,
If I ever dissed you, no disrespect I never wished to,
Hold a grudge the stress makes me act like this,
The day I get it off my chest I wont write tracks like this,
But Ill be bitter on them when all is done and is forgotten,
Cos its easier to sit and complain than fix the problem,
But the power of speech endowers our beliefs,
With sour defeats, man nothing is out of reach,
Got plenty to answer for, all do is answered back,
Done a thousand things I regret, apologize for none of that,
So you get back what you put in no regrets,
And keep on until they know your sweat, you only get.
(We get)One chance, so I live for the moment,
Im just one man what I wouldnt give for this moment,
We got one world; still we take it in stride,
In this one life we stand still waiting to die,
(We get)One chance, so I live for the moment,
Im just one man what I wouldnt give for this moment,
We got one world; still we take it in stride,
In this one life we stand still waiting to die.
Now breathe in...
Now if life is what you make it its time to build,
Man Im for real aint no telling what this life will yield,
Im a career man, cos I career off any path,
That would lead me to a start of financial gains Im scarred,
We learn from our mistakes, that makes me a scholar on,
Being a walking talking fuck up and a better man for being wrong,
Im humble and loyal, my friendships are honored,
A mans success aint measured by the depths of his pocket,
I give good advice but never follow it, whats left for me?
Im a hypocrite and if I werent Id be a success story,
View this wide world through a narrow gaze, these harrowed days,
Seen to many men end in a shallow grave,
I guess its better to have loved and to lost, than never stumbled across,
The gift of knowing you what ever the fucking cost,
To put it in perspective and under my vision,
This world is superficial; Im done with others opinions.
Now breathe out...

To think upon the greater mysteries of our universe is something that I do with ease, but when i try to understand and define phenomena such as love, perplexity arise and my definitions descend into meaninglessness.

40-50 pound pull weight
Out of their mind ?!
While I can't vouch for the shipping costs
to Australia, give Lancaster Archery a look
for gear. They have just about everything
an archer could ever want and then some
I'm still using an Aerotech riser myself.
Will probably never wear it out lol. . .

I'm not sure where I got my new Hoyt Nexus riser from but it was an American website. Some people have said Lancaster is a good plae but given how long it took my riser to get here it's just easier to go to the shops for arrows and the like. Plus, it's helpful to be able to try things out. You really need to know exactly what you want if you go online.
I got the same riser as my brother (only red ember instead of plain blue and it's a 2009 version) and it cost less even with shipping than his which he bought in a shop here. $800AUDsomething for his and only $700AUDsomething for mine. Still expensive but it's the first recurve I've ever got having only shot longbow or club recurves previously and it's just so amazing to shoot that I'm probably never going to get another. I just have to build up the strenght in my arms to physically lift it up. I shot it the other day and my bowarm's still sore. I don't even have half the gadgetry yet.

I've been shooting for a number of years ( non-competitive ) and
even I get tired after shooting that kind of weight for extended
periods of time.
Guys in particular always seem to go for the macho weight on a bow
then find accuracy goes out the window when they find they can't hold
it steady.
I haven't shot a Nexus riser but, like you, once I find one I'm happy
with, I tend to stay with it. Thus, I still shoot an Aerotec riser.
It works for me so no sense in spending $$$$ on the newer ones.
As for gadgetry, I just use the standard setup myself. Rest / plunger,
clicker, sight, stabilizer. Nothing all that fancy, works great. I order
base shafts and cut them to length as well as fletch them. I get to control
the quality that way.
The only thing new to me that I'm going to try is making my own strings.
I shoot Angel Dyneema and it can be difficult to find sometimes so I
purchased the materials and the string jig and will see how well that
turns out. ( Even bought some cheap string material to practice with
as I KNOW the first several attempts will need some help )
I wish we had an archery club or something similar here, but hunting clubs
are pretty much all I can find within an hours drive. Thus, I simply setup
a target on the side of the house and shoot that way.

I know. It's better to shoot something lighter and be able to shoot however many arrows you need to than to push yourself so hard you have to give up half way through. Endurance. That's a huge part of determining who wins a lot of the time. You see these people shooting 90m at the start of the competition and already shaking and know they're going to struggle.
As this is the first recurve I've ever had pretty much everything is a hand-me-down (well, hand-me-up really) from my brother. My limbs are the ones he had when he first started that were then bought by a friend and have now come back to me. My sight is his first as is my plunger which doesn't actually suit my bow and I need to get my own. The string I'm using until I make my own is one of his that he doesn't use because it's got a metal nocking point and the other day I nicked his stabliser because he wasn't shooting and it felt so un...stable without one. The rest is what came with the riser too so I need to get another as well as a clicker I suppose once I've practiced a bit more. I fletch my own arrows (well, I will when I get some instead of using club ones that are too long) and stick the nocks and piles in but the shafts come from the shop where they cut them for you. The club has equipment that you can use to cut them but there's no need if the shop does it. My brother uses it to cut down arrows he breaks so he can make pens out of them. I don't know why. He has that many and the last one he made is far too long to be a pen. It looks like he's using a bloody quill, it's so long.
Someone's going to have to show me how to make strings. I'll probably end up commandeering the huge homemade jug some friends have to make them. Actually, they like making strings so they'll probably decide to help me. We've got all the fast-flite and serving and everything.
Pity. Clubs are fun. You get to shoot with other people and go in competitions and everything.

"The significant owl hoots in the night"
in several weeks now. Every weekend seems to bring a new front through
and rain / wind along with it.
Curious what type of fletching you use. So many folks use Spin-Wings or
an equivalent type of fletch. I still use feathers
buy the high dollar shafts. The Easton X10's currently check in at $350
USD / dozen and I doubt my skill would gain any perceivable increase if
I were to use them. I shoot the Easton Lightspeed series and am quite
happy with the performance.
I need to get off my butt and make a new string as I noted some of my
serving is starting to unravel on one end. I am still using my original
equipment that I set the bow up with years ago when I switched from compound
to recurve. Seems to work just fine so, until I break something, they'll
continue to see use
The gear just costs too much to keep upgrading every time they release a
new product lol. . .
